The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogg, has reaffirmed the growing strength of health cooperation between Ghana and the United Kingdom during a courtesy call on the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The meeting focused on ongoing reforms within Ghana’s health sector and opportunities to deepen bilateral collaboration, particularly in areas of healthcare delivery, workforce development, and system innovation.

During the engagement, Mr. Akandoh highlighted strides made by the government to strengthen the sector, pointing to the expansion of the National Health Insurance Scheme (Ghana), increased investment in primary healthcare, and efforts to boost local pharmaceutical manufacturing.
He also outlined ongoing initiatives to retool health facilities, roll out specialised training programmes for nurses and medical professionals, and address workforce gaps through targeted interventions.

The Minister further stressed the government’s commitment to integrating technology into healthcare delivery and completing stalled hospital projects across the country.
Mr. Rogg, on his part, emphasised the importance of sustaining and strengthening the Ghana–UK Health Partnership, describing it as a critical platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building.

He also pointed to key areas for future collaboration, particularly as preparations gather pace for the upcoming UK-hosted global development conference, which is expected to shape international cooperation on health and broader development priorities.
