Founder of the Atta-Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho has questioned the basis on which John Mahama expected the Supreme Court to have overturned the Electoral Commission’s (EC) verdict that declared Nana Akufo-Addo President.

According to him, events leading to the application at the Supreme Court should have influenced the 2020 NDC Presidential candidate against going through with his application at the apex court.

“So, after what happened in 2013; did John Dramani Mahama really believe that by the end of today, he would have become the President of Ghana with no concrete evidence & figures?” he quizzed.

This forms part of a barrage of assertions by the former NDC Deputy General Secretary in recent times which has got many questioning his stance in the party’s activities.

Let John Mahama fight his own battles and leave the NDC alone to exist.

On Thursday, a seven-member panel of Supreme Court Judges in a unanimous decision dismissed the election petition filed by Mr Mahama.

This according to the apex court is because the case had no merit.

After the ruling, Mr. Anyidoho tweeted; “His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo took his Oath Of Office on the 7th of January, 2021. Today, the Supreme Court ruling has made it abundantly clear that the President of Ghana has a clear mandate to govern: May God guide our President in all his thoughts and ways.”

The former Deputy General Secretary of the party seems to have fallen out with some of its members since his unsuccessful attempt to contest the NDC General Secretary position in November 2018, a date which significantly featured in his Thursday rants.

“I pray that when they go to bed tonight and listen to their “borborliborbor” song; they shall repent from their sins and know that, what they did at Trade Fair in November 2018, is what has hit them harder! Karma is a b*tch,” he wrote on Twitter.

He has publicly been heard affirming confidence of the leader of the governing party, something that has been uncharacteristic of the opposition party.

Mr Anyidoho among other things also highlighted what he describes as “immediate reforms in the NDC.”

On February 8, Koku Anyidoho was suspended from the party after two petitioners lodged an official complaint about acting “in breach of the party’s disciplinary code for its members as contained in the NDC constitution.”

Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama has expressed his disappointment in the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to dismiss his election petition.

Reacting to the ruling, the former President intimated that, his defeat came as no surprise as the apex court had denied many of the applications filed by his legal team.

“Much as I am aware that we are legally bound by the decision of the highest Court of the land, the Supreme Court of Ghana, I disagree with the process of the trial and the ruling of the court,” he stated at his office in Cantonments, Accra.
