Manchester United’s young midfield star, Kobbie Mainoo, has revealed he has the full support of his family on his decision to opt for England ahead of Ghana’s Black Stars.
Mainoo, 19, made his debut for the Three Lions earlier this year in March, in a friendly against Brazil.
Born to Ghanaian parents in Stockport, England, Mainoo also had the option of representing the Black Stars at senior level, but chose not to.
Having represented England at the various youth levels, Mainoo, has the opportunity of representing England at this year’s European Championships after being named in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad.
“Maybe distant family when I’m in Ghana give me a bit for it. But, no, they all support me in my decision,” he said.
Mainoo, who is expected to start the FA Cup final against Manchester City, has made 24 appearances for Manchester United this season, scoring three goals and providing an assist.
