Energy Minister John Jinapor has warned administrative officers within the energy sector that anyone found to be underperforming or attempting to sabotage the system will be dismissed.
Speaking during a briefing with members of the Energy Committee of Parliament and cabinet on Thursday, May 15, he noted that he would not hesitate to take swift action against any non-performing official, regardless of their rank.
"I'm serious about this. If we find out that any administrative officer—be it Director, General Manager, Area Manager—is not working in line with the laid-down procedures, or is either lazying around or sabotaging the system, you will be sacked," he warned.
He added, "If I don’t sack you, I’ll be sacked. So I want to appeal to the Chairman and the Committee members, so we can all work together."

The Minister also highlighted the dire financial situation facing the sector, revealing that the government has inherited more than GH¢3 billion in debt owed to power generation companies alone.
He stated that the total sector debt had previously stood at approximately GH₵80 billion.
According to him, the recent appreciation of the local currency has helped reduce the debt burden, much of which is denominated in foreign currencies, particularly the US dollar.
