Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, has expressed confidence in the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to select the most appropriate candidate to join him in the December elections.
Dr. Acheampong affirmed that Dr. Bawumia would choose the individual best suited to serve as his running mate, addressing reporters amidst speculation that he himself may be considered for the role.
The Abetifi MP said that Dr. Bawumia, as the NPP flagbearer, would make a judicious decision to elect a suitable candidate in the interest of the party.
He emphasised that only Dr. Bawumia knows who he intends to partner with for the forthcoming December elections to ensure the party retains power.
Dr. Acheampong assured that whoever Dr. Bawumia selects as his running mate would receive the full support of the party to work effectively towards the party's goals and objectives.
He further emphasised the importance of unity within the party and expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia's ability to make the best choice for the NPP's success in the upcoming elections.
“The only leading candidate that we know is in the mind of Dr. Bawumia. I am serving now but I was doing very well in business, if you know me. But I am serving now, so I am not a leading candidate for Dr. Bawumia."
“Everything is in his head. He will choose, he will make the best decision for the party, and the party will rally behind that candidate," he said.
