In a significant step towards fostering deeper cultural and health collaboration, the Indian High Commission in Ghana, in partnership with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, has initiated a series of Yoga sensitisation sessions for workers across the region.
The initiative, which brought together departmental heads of the various assemblies aims to promote healthy living and holistic well-being among the people of the Volta Region.

The Press Attaché for Info, Culture and Education to the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Sabiya Paul, highlighted the strategic vision behind this collaboration. "Our goal is to introduce yoga as a physical activity and integrate it into people's daily lives, enhancing their overall health and well-being. We believe this initiative will pave the way for a deeper collaboration between India and Ghana, fostering cultural and health exchanges."
Ankur Agarwal, an esteemed Indian yoga instructor with over 20 years of experience, led the initial sessions. Agarwal emphasised the numerous benefits of yoga, including improved physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance. "Yoga is a time-tested practice that offers holistic benefits. It enhances flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular health while also reducing stress and anxiety. I encourage everyone to take an active interest in yoga to experience its transformative benefits," he stated.

The Volta Regional Economic Planning Officer, Rev. Isaac Adza Tettey, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative. "The Volta Regional Coordinating Council is committed to institutionalising these yoga sessions as part of our health improvement strategies. We believe that regular yoga practice can significantly contribute to the overall well-being of our staff and the wider community," he remarked.
The yoga sensitisation sessions are expected to be held regularly, with plans to expand the programme across the country. This initiative marks a meaningful step towards integrating traditional wellness practices into the region's health framework, reflecting the shared values of health and harmony between India and Ghana.

As the collaboration progresses, both the Indian High Commission in Ghana and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council are optimistic about the long-term impact of yoga on the health and wellness of the people.
The initiative is set to not only promote physical fitness but also to strengthen the cultural ties between the two nations.
