The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu is focused on ending the perennial water crisis in his jurisdiction as he assumes official duty on Monday, February 3, 2025.
Right after reporting to the office, and engaging in a series of meetings, he is scheduled to embark on a familiarization tour of the workstation of the Ghana Water Company Limited in Kpeve - which is under maintenance.
This led to one of the most severe cases of water shortage in the station’s service areas, with some parts of the region going for weeks without receiving a supply of potable water.
“Following the meeting at the Coordinating Council, the Hon. Minister will embark on a tour of the Ghana Water Company Limited workstation in Kpeve. This visit underscores the Minister's commitment to understanding the operational realities on the ground” stated a communique signed by the Special Aid to Mr. Gunu, Bright Delali Kugbeadzor.
Mr. Gunu is expected to acquire firsthand information on the state of the facility and initiate the necessary measures to resolve the challenges of the periodic breakdown of the workstation and the inadequate supply of water to its catchment areas.
“The tour will provide him with firsthand insight into the daily operations of the station, allowing him to assess its efficiency and identify the existing challenges”, it started.
The communique further indulged the support of stakeholders towards the new course to develop the region and enhance livelihood under Mr. Gunu’s administration.
“The coming weeks and months will be crucial in shaping the future of the Volta Region under his guidance, and we encourage all stakeholders to lend support as he embarks on this important chapter of positioning the Volta Region on the national and global map”, it concluded.
Mr. Gunu's appointment received a resounding endorsement from residents of the region, with the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV identifying him as a man with the capabilities to occupy such an esteemed position in this crucial time, to resolve the numerous challenges of the region.
Mr. Gunu is also expected to build a collaborative spirit at the Regional Coordinating Council and across the 18 assemblies for effective governance and progress under his leadership.
The people of the Volta Region are in high anticipation of the leadership and vision Mr. Gunu brings to the office as he assumes the mantle to lead the region.
