The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has directed all members to return to work on Tuesday, July 16.
This was after the association's members laid down their tools today, Monday, over Organised Labour's indefinite strike action declared on Friday, July 12.
It followed the National Pensions Regulatory Authority's (NPRA) approval giving clearance to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), to proceed with its controversial plan to offload a 60% stake in four hotels to Bryan Acheampong's Rock City Hotel.
According to the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Dr Yaw Baah, the Union did not understand why the NPRA would allow SSNIT to proceed with the deal without further engagement after it initially ordered SSNIT to halt the procedure.
JUSAG as an accredited member of the organised labour was required to comply with the resolution.
But after Organised Labour's emergency meeting today on the back of SSNITs cancellation of the proposed sale of the 4 hotels, JUSAG says its members will return to work.
"Having had our demands met by the Board of SSNIT, organised labour decided to call off the ongoing strike. ALL workers are, therefore, directed to directed to report to work tomorrow, Tuesday, 16th July 2024.
In a press release signed by the National President, Samuel Afotey Otu, the association added "Leadership of organised labour will engage the Board of SSNIT to resolve any other outstanding issues regarding the management of the Trust."
Organised Labour has already announced the suspension of its strike at a news conference today, Monday, addressed by the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
The Ghana Medical Association has confirmed the suspension and also directed its members to return to post.
In a statement signed by the GMA President and General Secretary, Dr Frank Serebour and Dr Richard Selormey, the association said "NEC in light of this decision, suspends with immediate effect, the earlier issued roadmap for industrial action and directs that all members return to post. NEC is grateful to members for your support”.
