The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr Stephen Amoah, has assured that Kennedy Agyapong is coping well following his defeat in the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer election.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Super Morning Show on Monday, February 2, Dr Amoah said he was preparing to visit Mr Agyapong and stressed that the outspoken politician remained in good spirits after the outcome of the January 31 contest.
“Even this morning, I’m trying to tie up one or two issues, and then I was still going to see Kennedy Agyapong. By the grace of God, he’s doing perfectly well,” he said.
Dr Amoah described Mr Agyapong as a resilient political figure who understands the nature of competitive politics, noting that the defeat had not diminished his strength or character.
“He’s a politician, and you know the kind of person he is. If you’re close to him, he’s a different person altogether. He’s very fine,” the MP added.
Kennedy Agyapong was one of the leading contenders in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primary held on January 31, as the party elected its flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Dr Amoah’s comments come amid public interest in how aspirants who were unsuccessful in the closely watched contest are responding, with party leaders urging unity and calm as the NPP prepares for the next phase of its political campaign.
The reassurance from the Nhyiaeso MP is expected to ease concerns among party supporters, particularly given the intensity of the flagbearer race, which nonetheless ended peacefully.
