A new epidemic disease treatment centre is being constructed at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in preparedness to deal with the novel coronavirus and other infectious diseases.
The facility, with a 50-bed capacity, is expected to be completed in a month will augment the existing ones at the Tema General Hospital and the Ridge Hospital.

The Director of Public Health at Korle Bu, Philip Amoo, who revealed this to JoyNews’ Daniel Dadzie, said other sites are also being prepared and facilities being set up to deal with Covid-19 cases.
Although there has not been an outbreak of the dreaded virus in Ghana, six imported cases have been recorded.
Health officials say they are up to speed with contact tracing of all six persons. Most of the contacts have been reached, Ghana Health Service boss, Dr Patrick Aboagye told Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday.
He said all the contacts reached have been guided on how to self-isolate.
Schools, Churches, Mosques, and other places of public gathering, have meanwhile, closed down following a directive from government.
