The Kpone-Okpogli Youth Association has given the Tema Development Company (TDC) Limited a 21-day deadline to address long-standing land disputes within the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality.
The ultimatum was announced after the group staged a protest dubbed the “Enough is Enough Demo,” which also drew attention to poor road networks, inadequate water supply and unresolved boundary concerns in the area.
Addressing the media, the Association’s Chairman, Emmanuel Clifford Anum-Doku, accused TDC of mismanaging lands originally earmarked for the development of Kpone.

He contended that the lands had been allocated to TDC to facilitate township development, not for sale to industries and private interests at the expense of community growth.
He further stressed that the arrangement was not a compulsory acquisition but rather a rental agreement under which royalties were expected to be paid to the traditional authorities.
“Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah acquired Kpone lands in 1952 for 125 years. It was not a compulsory acquisition. They claim it is, but it is not. It is a yearly rent, and when they collect the rent, they pay the royalty.

“TDC was given the land to develop the Kpone township. They were not given the land to sell to industries, individuals and other interests. It was for development purposes. TDC cannot point to a single project they have started and completed,” Mr Anum-Doku asserted.
He warned that the youth would resist any further neglect of their concerns.
“We are sending a clear signal to them that we will meet them boot for boot. If they fail to resolve this matter within 21 days, then we have no relationship with them because they are taking us for granted,” he declared.
