Ghanaian artiste Kuami Eugene remains dedicated to projecting highlife, especially on the back of UNESCO listing the genre as Ghana’s intangible cultural heritage.
In tandem with his love for the genre, he has officially announced the return of his annual concert, rebranded and relocated to Kumasi for the first time.
The concert, formerly known as Hero’s Concert, will now be staged as Highlife Time with Kuami Eugene and is scheduled for Boxing Day, Friday, December 26, 2025, at the Milan Lounge in Kumasi. The show is expected to start at 8pm.
Born Eugene Kwame Marfo, Kuami Eugene said the decision to move the concert to the Ashanti Regional capital is a deliberate attempt to reconnect with the roots of highlife music.
“I’m bringing back Hero’s Concert. The last one was with A.B. Crentsil, who passed on later,” Kuami Eugene shared.
“I’m bringing it to Kumasi, actually. Kumasi is more highlife-oriented. Even though I sell out Accra all the time, I thought it was wise to bring it to Kumasi (at least for this year). The only change is the name, which is now ‘Highlife Time with Kuami Eugene’.”
The artiste’s previous Hero Concert in 2021 was widely celebrated, as he honoured and performed alongside the late highlife legend A.B. Crentsil, underlining his commitment to preserving and celebrating Ghana’s authentic highlife sound.
With several hit records to his name, Highlife Time with Kuami Eugene promises a night of rich Ghanaian sounds, live band performances and a celebration of musical heritage, curated by one of the country’s most consistent hitmakers.
The event is expected to draw music lovers from across the Ashanti Region and beyond, as Kuami Eugene takes another step in preserving and modernising Ghana’s highlife music.
