The 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has called on party faithful to unite behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2024 Presidential Candidate and former Vice President of Ghana, as the NPP charts a path toward regaining power in 2028.
According to Dr Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s history shows that unity and loyalty, even after electoral setbacks, have been critical to the party’s eventual success.
He recalled how party members remained steadfast behind the elephant symbol and stood firmly with former Presidents J.A. Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, despite earlier defeats, until victory was secured.
“Just as the New Patriotic Party united behind the elephant and stood firmly with Presidents Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, regardless of earlier defeats, let us do the same by rallying behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to take our party forward and secure power in 2028,” Dr Opoku Prempeh said.
He stressed that Dr Bawumia’s leadership, experience in government, and vision for Ghana provide a strong foundation for rebuilding the party and reconnecting with the electorate.
Dr Opoku Prempeh noted that the former Vice President’s role as the NPP’s 2024 Presidential Candidate positions him as a central figure in the party’s reorganisation and future strategy.
Dr Opoku Prempeh therefore, urged party members to set aside internal divisions and focus on strengthening the NPP’s structures at all levels, insisting that unity, discipline, and collective effort will be key to returning the party to power.
“When we stand together and remain committed to our values, the NPP has always emerged stronger,” he added.
