The battle of minds heated up as four of Kumasi’s top high schools faced off in the semi-finals of the prestigious Luv FM High Schools Debate.
At the end of two intense contests, Prempeh College and Kumasi High School emerged victorious, earning their spots in what promises to be a thrilling grand finale.
In the first semi-final clash, Prempeh College locked horns with KNUST Senior High School on the provocative motion: “China’s involvement in Africa’s infrastructure is more exploitative than developmental.”

Prempeh, arguing for the motion, delivered a commanding performance with sharp arguments and compelling rebuttals that swayed both judges and audience.
With a total score of 251 against KNUST SHS’s 233, Prempeh’s victory was decisive, earning a unanimous decision from the judging panel.
The second semi-final was a razor-thin thriller between St. Louis Girls’ SHS and Kumasi High School, debating the motion: “Ghana’s economic problem is political and not structural.”

St. Louis stood for the motion, while Kumasi SHS took the opposing stance. The contest was neck-to-neck, with both teams delivering eloquent, evidence-packed arguments.
In the end, Kumasi SHS edged ahead by just one mark, scoring 241 to St. Louis’ 240, clinching the win by a majority decision.

The two finalists, Prempeh College, one-time champion, and Kumasi SHS, defending champions, now prepare for a highly anticipated grand finale on Friday, July 4, where only one school will walk away as champion of this year’s Luv FM High Schools Debate.
