President John Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance, saying the country is ready to undergo a comprehensive peer review under the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).
He described the APRM as a critical tool for assessing progress in governance reforms and shaping future interventions, stressing that Ghana remains open to scrutiny.

The President made the remarks after swearing in members of the National African Peer Review Mechanism Governing Council (NAPRM-GC).
According to him, the newly constituted Council will lead Ghana’s second-generation peer review next week on the sidelines of the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“We are ready to participate fully and to lead this process,” President Mahama said, underscoring his administration’s commitment to openness and good governance.
The Governing Council is chaired by Professor Akua Kuenyehia.

In brief remarks after the swearing-in, Prof Kuenyehia thanked the President for the confidence reposed in the Council and assured him of their commitment to transparency and the independence of governance institutions.
She said the Council would work diligently to ensure that the peer review process is credible and reflects Ghana’s true governance situation.

Other members of the Council are Dr Joseph Whittal, Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ); Mr Joseph Obeng; Mr David Ofosu-Dorte; and Mrs Cornelia Amoah.
Ghana is among countries that have signed on to the APRM, a voluntary self-monitoring mechanism aimed at promoting democratic governance, economic management and sustainable development across Africa.
