An 18-year-old unemployed man who allegedly assaulted a security guard on duty at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge, has appeared before the Adabraka District Court.
Gabriel Nii Offei Dimson, charged with assault, pleaded not guilty.
The court admitted Dimson to bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 with two sureties and adjourned the case to April 15, 2026.
The prosecution, led by Inspector Sandra Amakye, said the complainant, Noah Foli, was a security officer at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge, while the accused resided at Osu in Accra.
The prosecution said on February 18, at about 1700 hours, Dimson went to the Maternity Ward of the facility to visit his wife, who had gone there to deliver.
According to the prosecution, the accused stood at an unauthorised area on the hospital premises beside the complainant.
The court heard that the complainant approached Dimson and asked him to move away since visitors were not permitted at that location, and subsequently directed him to a designated waiting area.
Prosecution said Dimson initially left but later returned to the same spot.
When the complainant approached him again, an altercation ensued, during which Dimson allegedly punched the complainant, causing him to fall heavily to the ground and lose consciousness.
Dimson was subsequently arrested for further investigations.
Prosecution said the complainant was admitted to the Emergency Ward of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital and was responding to treatment.
