President Akufo-Addo has prayed for continuous blessings for former President John Agyekum Kufuor as he turned 83 years on December 8.

Delivering a speech at the opening of the second edition of the Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum on Wednesday, the President used the platform to celebrate Ghana's "Gentle Giant" who is one of the bigwigs in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Former statesman Agyekum Kufuor was present at the event organised by Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra in collaboration with the Kofi Annan Foundation in Geneva, when President Akufo-Addo expressed his well wishes.

"May God continue to bless John Agyekum Kufuor. His birthday is today," the President stated briefly.

Prior to this, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah extoled the former President for his tremendous contribution to the development of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

According to the Ofoase-Ayirebi MP, the entire citizenry today celebrates him for his service that upheld the good name of Ghana.

Mr John Agyekum Kufuor was President of Ghana from January 7, 2001 to January 6, 2009.

Also, the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has celebrated the former President. He wrote, "millions in Ghana and generations to come will feel the impact of your numerous interventions."

For users on social media, the interventions and initiatives put in place by the former President during his eight years in office remain unmatched.

They also prayed for longevity and good health on his behalf.
