The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem, Kwadwo Baah Agyeman is asking farmers in his constituency to shoot and kill cattle belonging to any Fulani herdsman spotted destroying their farmlands.
Last year, the Ashanti Regional Security Council, tasked an-11-member committee to investigate the Agogo Fulani issue.
A military and police task force was set up at the instance of the National Security Council to ensure the relocation of the cattle to the Afram Plains area.
But according to the MP, that has not achieved the desired results, hence his directive to his constituents to shoot to kill.
Mr. Baah Agyeman told Joy News he was ready to defend his directive.
“I go for a loan from a bank to enter into farming and I will be sitting agile for somebody to bring his business to come and destroy my business?”, the MP queried
He therefore explained that he had sat in “countless resolution meetings” but the security personnel are yet to receive command from the authorities to enable them act decisively on the Fulani menace.
He indicated that in the absence of any deterring action, the herdsmen keep increasing their flocks, which cause destruction to more farms.
