Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, the running mate of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has begun a 6-day campaign tour in the Ashanti Region on Thursday ahead of 2020 General Elections.
She visited the Nyinahini township in the Region to solicit the support and prayers of the traditional authorities and people for the December polls.
"I came to ask for your prayers, a good relationship with you and blessings for this journey that I would like you to join me on for the benefit of all," she said.
While there, the Professor also stated that the NDC's manifesto was developed to ensure an equitable distribution of the national cake, so as to foster peace and a sense of belonging among the citizenry.
"As stated in our 2020 manifesto, we shall ensure that the national cake is equally and fairly distributed to all. This would prove to everyone that they are a part of the development that will take place in the country," she added.
The Chief of Nyinahini, Nana Amanpene Boateng Twum III thanked her for the visit, acknowledging the contribution of the two main political parties to the overall development of the nation, and particularly, Nyinahini.
"Although chiefs do not engage in politics, as tradition demands, we will receive all parties, because each party contributes in their own way to help the community, just as the NDC has contributed a school to our community."
"We shall support everyone with prayers to help the development of the nation. At the end of the day, it is God who makes kings and He shall choose whom He wants to lead the country," he stated.
He also thanked John Mahama's running mate for the visit and honouring the community and the traditional authorities.
