A member of the National Democratic Congress legal team has described as “embarrassing” the case in which a former Supreme Court Judge Justice Francis Kpegah is challenging the status of Nana Akufo Addo as a lawyer. Nana Ato Dadzie said “as far as I am concerned he [Nana Addo] is a lawyer.” He was called to the Bar in 1975. I was also called in 1975 and so was Tsatsu Tsikata, Ato Dadzie said on Joy FM and Multi TV news analysis programme Newsfile. He was commenting on the suit filed by Justice Francis Kpegah who insists the NPP 2012 flagbearer is not a lawyer and has been impersonating another lawyer who may be dead or alive. Kpegah who christened his suit against Nana Addo as “the thriller in Manila,” and requested for a live coverage of the suit failed to turn up when the case was called. He said he was unwell, but issued a lengthy press statement and granted interviews to media houses just a day after he failed to show up in court. The Editor of the Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr, who was also on the Newsfile programme said Justice Francis Kpegah’s case is “driven by malice and mischief.” He said the case will go “nowhere” and charged the former Supreme Court Judge to conduct himself in a way that will be respected by all. He said the propaganda and spin doctoring approach adopted by the learned former judge will only be a dent on his reputation. In reacting to the comments made by Baako Jnr, the NDC lawyer and former Chief of Staff, Nana Ato Dadzie said the New Crusading Guide editor must be tolerant of views and actions of other people, especially when those actions are within the law. He admitted that Nana Addo is a lawyer but the learned judge must be allowed to prosecute his case adding, Nana Addo, as he knows him, will not run away but will fight to clear his name.
