Highlife musician Rex Omar has described the death of his colleague Nana Tuffour is a huge blow to the Ghana music industry.
Speaking to Lexis Bill on Drive Time on Monday, he stated that the industry was not expecting to lose such a talent who has helped grow the Highlife genre in the country so soon.
“If you are mentioning Highlife artistes, you cannot mention four or five names without adding him,” Rex Omar said.
The news of Nana Tuffour’s death broke on Monday, June 15. A source close to the 66-year-old confirmed his passing to Andy Dosty, host of Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.
He died at home in the early hours of Monday after a short illness and his body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Mortuary.
The man popularly known as 9-9-2-4 recently lost a blood brother with whom he is very close to.
Although the late brother remains in the morgue due to Covid-19, sources close to the family suspect grief may have fast-tracked the crooner’s demise.
Rex Omar said that he been in contact with Nana Tuffour and hence was shocked to hear the news.
“This is a big loss. It is a lot, when situations like these happen my words fail me,” he added.
