Some Assembly Members in the Nandom municipality have endorsed the retention of Interior Ambrose Dery as the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency.
The move by 31 out of the 36 members of the Assembly came on the heels of popular acclamation by delegates of the party on Saturday after he was the sole candidate to have penciled his name for the NPP Primary in the Nandom constituency.
At a press conference addressed by the presiding member of the Nandom municipal Assembly, Analecta Viiru Naab and attended by all 31 Assembly members including government nominees stated that
"In the last few years, the development of Nandom has been astronomical in all spheres and this is precisely as a result of the development pact the people of Nandom signed with the current President of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, and Hon. Ambrose Dery,' he said.'
Analecta Viiru Naab cited examples of projects and programmes that have completed and some ongoing in the municipality by the government through the instrumentality of the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery to justify their overwhelming endorsement.
They include tarring of the road from Kambaa to Hamile, the urban road projects which have given the Nandom township and other nearby communities a facelift, ongoing massive rural electrification in more than 40 communities in the municipality and facilitating for the elevation of Nandom district to municipality status.
The other projects are the drilling of 55 boreholes for most of the communities without water in the municipality, donation of grinding mills to women groups in various communities, provision of the health needs of his constituents through the provision of equipment and funds to the health services in the municipality.
He also oversaw the facilitation of screening of women for cervical cancer, the construction of an ultramodern theatre at the St. Theresa's hospital, ensured the employment of the teeming youth of Nandom into various sectors and the construction of several dams across the municipality.
''Looking at the achievements listed above ladies and gentlemen, it is very clear that the people of Nandom are in good business with the Hon. Ambrose Dery in charge. The people of Nandom have been highly expectant since the beginning of the Fourth Republic. It is refreshing to note that our long-held expectation is being met through the efforts of our hard-working and Development oriented Member of Parliament - Ambrose Dery,'' the group added.
The 31 Assembly members declared their unflinching and unwavering support behind the interior minister Ambrose Dery and president Akufo Addo for the continuous and monumental development of the Nandom Municipality now and into the future.
They also used the opportunity to congratulate the Municipal Chief Executive of Nandom, Dr Thaddeus Arkum Aasoglenang, who has appropriately partnered the interior minister as the representative President Akufo-Addo.
With the advent of Dr. Aasoglenang as the Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipality has witnessed a lot of infrastructural development.
The partnership between the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive has proven to the best bet Nandom has ever had in political leadership.
The conference concluded saying, ''the future of Nandom is indeed bright with Honorable Ambrose Dery in charge.''
