The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has directed all its regional executives to ensure the immediate completion of outstanding Branch Executive Elections across the country, following a decision by the party's Functional Executive Committee (FEC) aimed at finalising its grassroots electoral processes.

The directive, issued by the party's National Secretariat and signed by Deputy General Secretary (Finance and Administration), Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, on behalf of the General Secretary, instructs all Regional Chairmen and Regional Secretaries to supervise the conduct of the remaining branch elections between Monday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

The directive forms part of the party's broader effort to complete outstanding internal elections and strengthen its grassroots organisational structures ahead of subsequent stages of its internal electoral calendar.

According to the directive, the decision to complete all remaining Branch Executive Elections was reached during a meeting of the Functional Executive Committee held on July 28, 2026.

The party explained that after reviewing the status of the internal electoral process, the FEC resolved that all outstanding branch elections should be conducted through the party's regional structures within a specified period.

"The Functional Executive Committee (FEC), at its meeting held on 28th July 2026, agreed that the outstanding Branch Executive Elections should be conducted through the Party's various regions," the statement said.

Following that decision, regional executives have been instructed to ensure that all pending branch elections within their jurisdictions are organised and completed within the approved timeframe.

"Accordingly, you are hereby directed to ensure that all outstanding Branch Executive Elections within the region are conducted from Monday, 3rd August 2026 to Tuesday, 11th August 2026," the directive added.

The nine-day exercise is expected to bring closure to all remaining branch-level electoral activities nationwide.

To facilitate a smooth exercise, the National Secretariat disclosed that the list of all outstanding Branch Executive Elections has already been forwarded to the various Regional Election Committees.

Regional executives have therefore been instructed to work closely with these committees throughout the electoral process to ensure effective coordination and compliance with the party's established procedures.

The directive stressed that collaboration between the regional leadership and election committees would be essential in delivering transparent, orderly and credible elections.

"Please note that the list of outstanding Branch Executive Elections has already been submitted to the respective Regional Election Committees. Accordingly, you are directed to liaise closely with the Regional Election Committees to ensure that the exercise is conducted strictly in accordance with the Party's Election Guidelines and approved timetable," the statement said.

The National Secretariat indicated that the approved timetable and election guidelines must serve as the primary framework for conducting the elections in every region.

The party also directed regional officials to ensure that every aspect of the exercise complies with the NDC Constitution and all directives issued by the national leadership.

According to the statement, strict compliance with the party's constitutional provisions and electoral regulations is necessary to preserve the integrity and credibility of the internal electoral process.

Regional leaders have been tasked with providing adequate supervision, logistical support and administrative oversight throughout the exercise.

"This directive must be adhered to strictly to ensure the successful completion of the exercise within the stipulated period," the communication stated.

It further instructed officials to guarantee that all elections are conducted in accordance with the party's governing rules.

"You are expected to provide the necessary supervision and support to guarantee that the elections are conducted in accordance with the Party's Constitution, Election Guidelines, and all directives issued by the Headquarters," the directive added.

The emphasis on strict adherence reflects the party's determination to ensure that every outstanding branch election is conducted fairly, transparently and within the established legal framework.

Branch Executive Elections represent one of the most important components of the NDC's internal democratic processes, as branch executives constitute the foundation of the party's organisational structure.

Branch executives are responsible for coordinating political activities at the community level, mobilising members, implementing party programmes, recruiting new supporters and serving as the primary link between the national leadership and grassroots members.

The completion of all outstanding branch elections is therefore expected to strengthen the party's local structures by ensuring that every branch is led by duly elected executives operating under constitutional mandates.

The National Secretariat appealed to regional executives to continue demonstrating commitment to the party's organisational objectives by ensuring the successful execution of the exercise.

The statement expressed confidence in the ability of regional leaders to oversee the elections professionally and within the approved schedule.

"Your usual cooperation and commitment to the successful execution of this important Party assignment are highly appreciated," the directive concluded.
