The opposition National Democratic Congress’ Parliamentary candidate for Efutu constituency has been arrested and arraigned before the district magistrate court of Winneba for verbally abusing a police officer.
According to the charge sheet cited by Myjoyonline.com, James Kofi Annan breached the Section 207 (1) of the criminal offences Act 29/60.
He has therefore been charged with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.

It indicated that around 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 21, the accused, Mr Annan went to the Latter Day Saint voter’s registration challenge centre without lawful authority and used abusive words on the officer.
The file then highlighted that Mr Annan's warrant for arrest was issued on July 21 and was to appear before the court same day.
