The acting Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Anthony Kwasi Sarpong has promised to build a strong collaboration with MTN Ghana, one of the highest tax paying companies in the country.
In a quest to enhance visibility with tax payers, the Commissioner General embarked on a visit to the telecom firm to engage management and assure them of government’s support to drive economic growth.
The visit by Mr. Sarpong forms part of initiatives to improve visibility with tax payers and rebuild relationship with the private sector.
After a short interaction, Mr. Sarpong disclosed plans to open up his doors to tax payers to engage and support revenue mobilization.

“You know at GRA, our mandate is to collect revenue and in doing that, we have to partner with our key tax payers which I call tax customers because when we partner with them and their businesses run smoothly and efficiently, then we can benefit from collecting the tax rightly”.
He added that it is important to visit a strategic partner such as MTN after GRA has outdoored a Commissioner General.
“It is important to visit them to ensure that the partner and work together for our mutual growth” he said.
Chief Executive of MTN Ghana Stephen Blewett, expressed confidence that MTN will remain committed to its tax obligations and transparency in its operations.
He promised that as tax partner, MTN would be involved in the dialogues for revenue mobilization.
The GRA boss was accompanied by other top management of the authority.
