Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has opened up about relationships in the music industry, revealing that he currently does not consider anyone a true friend in the field, though he respects and relates to some colleagues.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews, the musician said while he values personal relationships deeply, friendships in the industry are rare and complex.
“But at this particular moment. If I say friend. I do not really have like a friend. Friend. You know like. I don't mind how the headlines twist it to say. Stonebwoy says he doesn't have a friend in the industry. I don't mind. Because truth be told. I cannot describe.
"Any relationship that I remember right now. Off head. As very true true friendship. Industry wise. That is like music to music. Whereby. Me understanding what friendship is. You know. I can't put it on. Any relationship that I have right now. To say that we are friends. I would be deceiving somebody”
He reflected on the difference between personal and professional relationships.
“The wife alone is a graduation. Of all. But there's my friend in there. There's my lover in there. You know. My kids mom in there. You know. But when it comes to the industry. I have a few Persons that I respect and relate to.”
Stonebwoy emphasized that this doesn’t mean he lacks respect for his peers
“That doesn’t mean I do not have people that I respect and can relate to,” he added.
