Political analyst, Dr Kwame Asah-Asante has welcomed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision to proactively communicate its achievements, describing the move as “a good call” and “long overdue.”
According to Dr Asah-Asante, it is the fundamental objective of any political party to win power and form the next government — a goal that requires deliberate engagement with the public to build support.
“It is a good call, because every political party — your duty or aim is to win power and form the next government,” he said.
He added “You do that with numbers, so you need to move in to do certain things that will attract the attention of the public in order to win souls.”
Speaking on the JoyNews News Desk Show on Tuesday, April 29, he argued that the NPP has played a significant role in Ghana’s political development and that it is time the party made its contributions widely known.
“Telling their story is long overdue,” he said. “There is a lot in the political history of this country which the NPP has, and they have to make it abundantly clear to people — for people to know how far they have come.”
Dr Asah-Asante further noted that turning this communication into a structured policy could deepen political understanding within the party and enhance its public appeal.
“So, if you make it a policy that you want to now articulate your views relative to your achievements, then the knowledge within the party deepens and then people become attracted to your message — and that is the beginning of winning souls for the party,” he added.
