A fatal head-on collision between a Hyundai minivan and a Hyundai truck, has claimed one life and severely injured two other persons at Adansi Akrokeri junction, near Obuasi.
Although the affected persons are yet to be identified, the deceased person who died on the spot, is said to be the driver of the Hyundai minivan whiles the two injured persons were passengers of the Hyundai truck.
A press statement signed by Divisional Officer (DO) II Peter Addai, the Public Regions officer of the Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service said the body of the deceased was successfully extricated by the Fomena rescue team.
The statement explained that the accident occurred when the driver of the Hyundai minivan attempted to overtake another vehicle ahead of it.
Unfortunately, the minivan collided head-on with the Hyundai truck leading to the death of the minivan driver and injury of the two passengers of the truck.
The statement noted that the injured persons had already been transported to the nearest hospital before the arrival of the Fomena rescue team.
The team successfully extricated the remains of the deceased person and handed over to the police at the scene of the accident.
According to the statement, both vehicles were badly damaged as the truck ended up in a ditch.
The PRO advised motorists plying the roads to be cautious and avoid unnecessary and wrongful overtaking to save lives and reduce the number of accidents being recorded in the country.
