Ghanaian swimmer Joselle Mensah has expressed her excitement following qualification for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris via the wild card route.
She is one of two swimmers, alongside Harry Stacey, to feature at the global showpiece after being ranked as the highest female athlete in Ghana by World Aquatics.
Her time of 26.52 seconds which was attained at the 2023 African Games in the Women's 50m Freestyle event, was enough to secure her ticket.
"I heard the news officially from the Federation and I was very excited," she told JoySports.
"I was very happy, grateful and obviously excited. The Olympics is the top end for every athlete. Everyone wishes to be at the Olympic Games at some point since it is kind of the last stop on the athletic journey."
Joselle is based in Germany and currently training as she hopes to impress on her debut at the Olympics.
It will be her second time representing Ghana, after featuring at the African Games in March where she narrowly missed out on a medal with a 4th place finish in the Women's 50m Freestyle event.
