The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has paid tribute to the late Ayawaso East MP, Naser Toure Mahama, describing him as a valuable asset to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly for his expertise in the energy sector.
Speaking to JoyNews on Monday, January 5, during the final funeral rites of the late legislator, Mr Boamah said Mr Mahama played a significant technical role within Parliament and his party.
“He was somebody who was very useful to his party, very useful to the committee that he served from 2013 to 2025,” he said.
Mr Boamah noted that the late MP was deeply involved in energy-related matters, especially within the downstream petroleum sector.
“For some reason, I believe that he was giving the NDC some technical advice within the downstream sector because, from 2013, he has always been in that committee, and I am telling you the last report that I saw in Parliament on the amendment to the Petroleum Revenue Management Act, he was the signatory to it,” he stated.
Beyond his technical contributions, Mr Boamah highlighted the late MP’s personal qualities and ability to work across party lines.
“I believe that we have lost someone who was very calm and affable and related well to all of us in Parliament,” he added.
