The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) has expressed deep concern and outrage over a viral CCTV video showing a non-uniformed officer of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) physically assaulting a pharmacy staff member and a female client at the premises of e-PRIDE Chemist located at Burma Camp in Accra.
The officer, identified as Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Mensah Williams, was captured on video attacking the victims in what the Society has described as a “barbaric, reprehensible, and utterly unacceptable act of violence.”
In a press release issued on Thursday, October 30, the PSGH confirmed that a delegation had visited e-PRIDE Chemist to verify reports and to offer direct support to the pharmacy’s care team.
The society assured the affected staff and client of its full backing and commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
“The Society unequivocally condemns this barbaric, reprehensible, and utterly unacceptable act of violence perpetrated against pharmacy personnel and a client,” the statement read.
“Such conduct not only violates the fundamental human rights and dignity of the victims but also constitutes a grave affront to public trust and the sanctity of healthcare spaces.”

The PSGH stressed that community pharmacy personnel are frontline healthcare providers who work tirelessly to ensure public access to essential medicines and care. It warned that any attack on pharmacy professionals is an attack on public health and the safety of every Ghanaian who relies on their services.
The society extended its empathy and solidarity to the victims of the assault, pledging to provide both psychological and professional support to help them recover from the traumatic experience.
The PSGH also called on the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, ensuring that justice is delivered swiftly and in accordance with the law.
At the same time, the Society commended the Ghana Armed Forces for their prompt intervention and the arrest of the suspect, noting that the response demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to discipline and professionalism.
The PSGH urged GAF to expedite disciplinary and legal processes to reinforce public confidence in its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct.
Reaffirming its dedication to protecting the safety, dignity, and professional integrity of all pharmacists across the country, the PSGH called on stakeholders and the general public to help ensure that healthcare spaces remain zones of respect, safety, and service to humanity.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has arrested the soldier captured in the viral video.
