The Black Stars held their opening training session on Monday afternoon ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifier against Madagascar this weekend.
24 players reported on the opening day of camp with Thomas Partey being the only player yet to join the team in Ghana
The team arrived at the Accra Sports Stadium 15 minutes after 4 in their new team bus with supporters already present to watch the team train.
Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah and Ransford Yeboah Konigsdorffer, who were all named in the Black Meteors team joined the team’s opening training session.
Despite 23 players arriving on the pitch, only 22 completed Monday’s session with Bechem United’s Hafiz Konkoni undergoing a separate session with the team physio.
Gideon Mensah did not come with the team to the Accra Sports Stadium and while there was no explanation for his absence, it is expected the Auxerre defender will join the team in subsequent training sessions.
After a long season, there was the need to take things slowly in the training as the intensity was minimal while there was also little ball work at the end of the day.
