The Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s Environmental Health officials on Wednesday closed down a corn mill operator’s shop at Korle-Gonno, a suburb of Accra.
The operator of the facility, according to the officials, had defied several warnings to keep the shop clean.
The Environmental Officers saw bags of corn packed at the edge of a smelly gutter chocked with filth. They also discovered that a pepper grinding machine in the shop is rusted.
The inside of the shop is unkempt with naked electrical cables hanging from the ceiling.
The operator has been given a caution note and is expected to report at the AMA’s office. Failure to do so will compel the AMA officers to arraign him before court.
The team also issued a caution note to a 'Kenkey factory' owner, who was found operating in unhygienic conditions.
