President John Mahama on Tuesday, August 12, met with the grieving families of the three military officers who tragically lost their lives in Wednesday’s fatal helicopter crash.
The emotional meeting was held at the Office of the Chief of The Defence Staff, where the President offered his condolences and assured the families of the nation’s support during this difficult time.



The crash, which involved a military helicopter on an official operation, claimed the lives of the eight distinguished individuals in the tragic Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash near Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.



Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah were among the high-profile victims who perished in the accident included two cabinet ministers, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah (Minister for Defence) and Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed (Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation).



Also among the deceased were Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate; and Samuel Sarpong, the Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).



The group was travelling to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region to attend an event aimed at combating illegal mining, known as galamsey.
