The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, joined Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in commissioning a new batch of officer cadets into the Ghana Prisons Service.
The ceremony took place during the Graduation Parade of Officer Cadet Course Intake 32 at the Prisons Officers Training School on Tuesday, December 2.

The Vice President reaffirmed the government’s dedication to equipping the Service with skilled personnel and the necessary resources to effectively carry out its mandate.
Highlighting key policy measures, she announced an increase in the feeding allocation for inmates from GH¢1.80 to GH¢5.00, aimed at promoting humane treatment within the prison system.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also launched the Think 360 Degrees Prisons Initiative, designed to merge humanitarian and developmental objectives.
The initiative prioritises the welfare of officers and inmates, supports agricultural mechanisation, provides vocational training, and creates sustainable jobs while generating revenue.
A key goal is to ensure inmates are effectively reintegrated into society.

Addressing the graduates, the Vice President urged the new officer cadets to serve with integrity, discipline, and dedication, before officially commissioning them into the senior corps of the Ghana Prisons Service.
