The Police have arrested two persons in connection with the death of the American IG model, Tyger Booty.
The model was found dead at the Rayporsh Hotel at Abelenkpe in Accra.
A police statement signed by the Director-General of Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori said the suspects are currently in custody assisting in investigations.
The statement added that the deceased’s family has officially been informed of the current state investigations being conducted into circumstances leading her death.
“On December 29, 2021, a post mortem examination was conducted on the deceased, Julie Diane Williams, at the Police Hospital mortuary in the presence of the Police and Godwin King Akpalu, a representative of the deceased’s family who identified the body to the pathologist.”
Policelice says it is waiting for the full autopsy report which includes the toxicology and histopathology examinations.
Investigations have established that the US national arrived in Ghana on December 3, 2021 from Nigeria.
Having tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival, she was taken into an isolation centre at Ave Maria Hotel, South Legon.
Three days later, the deceased was picked up by some alleged friends from the isolation centre and taken to Zoko Lounge at Airport residential area where she had lunch and was then taken to the Rayporsh hotel at Abelemkpe, Policelice added.
“Records available at the Rayporsh Hotel indicate that the deceased checked out from the hotel on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at noon intending to travel back to Nigeria but could not proceed because of visa issues. She returned to the hotel the same day at 2:00 pm and checked in again.”
On December 14, 2021, Policelice received a complaint from two of the staff of the hotel to the effect that the said Julie Diane Williams was found unconscious in her room at the hotel.
A Police team proceeded to the hotel and after the necessary protocols, took her to the Police Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
This comes after sister of the late American citizen, called for her autopsy to be done in the United States.
Julie Williams said the family suspect foul play, stressing the deceased is not into drugs.
According to her, “people have told us Ghanaian officials can be very corrupt”, so they would kick against any attempt to have local doctors perform the autopsy.
“We don’t trust Ghana health authorities will do a good job, so we want the autopsy done in the United States. Unfortunately, none of us is from there [Ghana], and we’re not sure what will happen.”
“We would rather have it done in the states where we can trust the system because we don’t know anybody in Ghana. Everybody we talk to believes that something else is going on,” Booty’s sister said.
