The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested five people suspected of being members of a criminal group involved in armed robbery and landguard activities following an intelligence-led operation at Sapeiman Faase in the Greater Accra Region.

The operation, carried out jointly by the Accra Regional Police Command and the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID), led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition and other offensive items believed to have been used to terrorise residents in the area.

According to a statement issued by the Head of Public Affairs of the Accra Regional Police Command, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the suspects were arrested on July 17, 2026.

The suspects have been identified as Torgbui Agah Semaglo, 50; Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22; William Kweku Sedanu, 21; Cyril Kassenu, 26; and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.

Police said a search of the suspects' premises resulted in the recovery of several items, including a pump-action shotgun, a Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, a dummy Austria pistol, a jackknife, a face mask, 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one round of AK-47 ammunition, a talisman and two kitchen knives.

The statement said all the retrieved items have been retained as exhibits for investigations.

Preliminary investigations, according to the Police, indicate that the suspects are believed to be members of a criminal syndicate engaged in armed robbery and landguard activities.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are believed to be members of a criminal group involved in armed robbery and landguard activities and are alleged to have used the recovered weapons to terrorise residents within the Sapeiman area and its environs," the statement said.

The Police said the suspects remain in custody and are assisting with investigations while efforts continue to determine whether they are linked to other robbery cases and criminal activities.

"The suspects are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to establish their involvement in other criminal activities and to apprehend any additional accomplices," the statement added.

The Accra Regional Police Command commended members of the public for providing credible information that supports police operations and appealed for continued cooperation in the fight against crime.

"The Accra Regional Police Command commends members of the public who continue to support the Police with credible information and urges residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through the Police emergency numbers," the statement said.
