The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect involved in a viral assault incident that occurred in the Eastern Region.
Dawuda Sumaila, a tanker driver's mate, was apprehended on 9th April 2025 following an intelligence-led operation.
The arrest follows the circulation of a disturbing video, which showed Sumaila physically assaulting a young man with a machete by a fuel tanker.
The incident, which occurred on 4th April 2025 at Anyinam, caused public outrage after the video gained significant traction on social media.
In the footage, Sumaila can be seen attacking the victim in a seemingly unprovoked manner, prompting widespread condemnation from the public and calls for swift justice.
Sumaila is currently in police custody, where he is assisting with ongoing investigations into the incident.
Authorities are working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the assault, and the suspect is expected to face charges related to the attack.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that they are committed to ensuring justice is served, emphasising their dedication to tackling violent crimes and holding perpetrators accountable.
