The Ghana Police Service has apprehended a suspected land guard, Saviour Kojo Ekpe, in Abokobi, Greater Accra Region, following intelligence linking him to acts of intimidation and the illegal possession of firearms.
According to a Facebook post shared by the Service, the arrest, which took place on March 5, 2026, was prompted by reports that Ekpe had been terrorising residents in Abokobi and neighbouring communities. Authorities allege that he had also been renting firearms to criminals for unlawful activities.
During a search of his room, police recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including four pump-action guns, 101 live AA and BB cartridges, a Glock Austria pistol, 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a jack knife.

Ekpe reportedly admitted ownership of the weapons but was unable to provide any lawful justification for possessing them.
He claimed that some of the firearms were used for hunting and personal protection. Investigators, however, suspect that the firearms may have been rented out to facilitate criminal activities in the area.
In a related development, another suspect, Emmanuel Abbey, who is believed to be an accomplice of Ekpe, was also arrested for allegedly threatening the life of a complainant.

Both Ekpe and Abbey are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations into the matter.
The Police Service has urged residents to provide information on illegal armed activities in their communities and reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order.
