Police in the Eastern Region have arrested fifteen suspected armed robbers at Koforidua.
Substances believed to be marijuana were also retrieved from them. Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP James Azumah Abass told Joy News investigations are still ongoing.
"We realised that of late there has been residential robberies within the Koforidua Municipality.
"And our intelligence revealed that it is this area boys who dabble in drugs so after smoking indian hemp and some doing cocaine they look for nearest and vulnerable victims to perpetrate their acts on," he said.
He said 15 people were arrested with dangerous weapons and drugs in their possession after an operation yesterday .
He said there is evidence that these people were up to no good but they have begun thorough investigations into the matter.
ACP Abass also assured the residents in Koforidua that the Police will do everything possible to ensure the place is safe, especially during the festive season.
