President John Mahama has warned FIFA and the Egyptian authorities that they will be held responsible if something untoward happens to the Ghana delegation and supporters to Egypt for next week's World Cup playoff against the Pharaohs.

The world' football governing body approved the volatile Cairo as the venue of the second-leg match despite protests from the Ghana FA (GFA) over the security situation in Egypt.

President Mahama issued the warning on Thursday when Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Joseph Yamin, and GFA Vice President Fred Crentsil visited him at the Flagstaff House to brief him on the current security situation in Egypt.

"While we are reassured, we will hold FIFA and the Egyptian authorities responsible for any harm that is caused to any member of our team or supporters", President Mahama warned. 

Egypt will host Ghana on November 19 in the second leg of the World Cup play off which they have to win 5-0 if they wanted to play in the 2014 World Cup after their 6-1 defeat in Kumasi last month.

The Black Stars are currently in Istanbul, Turkey finalising their preparations to be played at the Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.
