As the country prepares to celebrate the Christmas season, the Creative Arts Council is urging all Ghanaians to make local music the center of their celebrations.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Creative Arts Council, Gyankroma Akufo-Addo says usually Ghana music is left behind while other cultures are promoted, adding that this yuletide season should make a difference.
She noted that the yuletide is an opportunity to sell the rich Ghanaian music culture to international tourists who will spend the season in the country.
“This month’s festivities for Detty December, we need our artists to push to the forefront, to be prioritised in the night clubs and airwaves. Let that choice not sample just the best jollof in the world but the best artist too,” she said.
According to her, the Creative Arts Council backs the campaign dubbed ‘#PlayGhana’ which seeks to promote Ghanaian music.
