Chairperson of the Public Procurement Authority, Dr Douglas Boateng, has called on African leaders to see the continent as one people with a shared destiny, rather than as fragmented nations with small populations.
Speaking as a panellist at the ongoing African Political Parties Summit, Dr Boateng lamented Africa’s deep divisions along borders, which make it difficult even for Africans to travel within the continent.
He warned that such fragmentation hampers development and progress, urging political parties to adopt a unified and collaborative approach to governance.
Dr Boateng expressed concern that instead of harnessing Africa’s combined population of 1.4 billion, businesses on the continent often limit themselves to the relatively small markets within their own countries, restricting growth and expansion opportunities.
“We need to think as one continent and not different countries. Made in Africa is what will save us; made in Africa is what will industrialise us,” he emphasised.
He further called on African political parties to work together to unlock the continent’s full potential through collective strength and shared vision.
