The 10th Prosecution Witness (PW10), Frank Aboagye, in the alleged coup against the Akufo-Addo-led government on February 21, tendered in the accoutrements that would have been used for the execution of the plot.

He was led by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Yvonne Attakora-Obuobisa when the Court resumed hearing on Monday.

Before they were tendered in, Mr. Aboagye, an operative of the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) identified the tools thoroughly.

Subsequently, the three-panelled judges comprising; Justices Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe, Hafsa Amaliba and Stephen Oppong and lawyers for the defense, inspected the items, without any objection from the lawyers.

The witness identified 3 pairs of pliers, 3 hammers, a saw, spanner, 4 drilling machines, 2 cables, sandpaper and 28 other items described as “assorted” tools.

Also, a revolver gun, 2 AK-47 magazines, 3 locally manufactured gun barrels, an electric grinding machine, an anvil and about a quarter sack of coal were tendered in.

In court, Mr. Aboagye said these items were retrieved from Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm’s office/consulting room, one of the individuals being tried. Dr. Mac-Palm has been accused by the state’s second witness, Major General Nicholas Peter Andoh, of being the main brain behind the alleged plot to overthrow and kill President Akufo-Addo.

He continued that a chemical labelled as Halothane BP was also found and during the investigation, Dr. Mac-Palm said it was a normal chemical.

A further probe led to the retrieval of 3 hand-smoke grenades, a small brown leather bag containing 9 live rounds of ammunition; a beretta pistol with 2 magazines; one empty, and the other one carrying six live rounds.

According to the witness, Dr. Mac-Palm’s bedroom at the Citadel Hospital held these items.

Mr. Aboagye told the Court when asked about how he came into possession of the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and guns, Dr. Mac-Palm said he owned the guns.

On the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), he reported that the suspect initially denied knowledge of its presence but later revealed that the IEDs were for one Kafui Donya. Kafui Donya, an Alavanyo native is said to have manufactured the guns and meant to use the IEDs in an Nkonya-Alavanyo conflict.

Mr. Donya was brought in for questioning and subsequently arrested.

He confirmed that, “he came from Alavanyo to manufacture the guns and the IEDs for Dr. Mac-Palm. Upon further questioning, he reiterated the guns and the IEDs were all manufactured for Dr. Mac-Palm and that he did the manufacturing,” CitiNews reported.

After Mr. Aboagye’s submission, the Court presided over by Justice Afia Serwaa Asare-Botwe adjourned the case to February 22.

Meanwhile, 10 Military, Police officers and civilians are being tried in this coup plot case.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Benjamin Agordzor, senior military officer Col. Samuel Kojo Gameli and 8 others; Dr. Mac Palm, Donyo Kafui, Bright Alan Debrah, Johannes Zikpi, WO II Esther Saan, Corporal Seidu Abubakar, Corporal Ali Solomon, and Sylvester Akankpewubare are facing various charges, including high treason.
