President John Dramani Mahama has urged residents of Bawku in the Upper East region to embrace peace as they celebrate Ramadan.
Speaking at the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration organised by the National Chief Imam at the Black Star Square in Accra, he emphasised that the holy month of Ramadan is a time for unity and reconciliation.
Addressing the ongoing tensions in Bawku, the President appealed to all factions to lay down their differences and work towards lasting peace.
He reminded them that conflict only hinders progress and development, affecting the livelihoods of innocent people.
"Finally, as we celebrate this Ramadan, I want to urge my brothers and sisters in Bawku to give peace a chance. Ramadan is a period for togetherness," President Mahama stated.
He called on religious and traditional leaders to mediate and encourage dialogue among all parties involved.
He further assured the people of Bawku that his government remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the area. "Let us use this sacred occasion to reflect on the values of love, forgiveness, and harmony. Together, we can build a stronger and more united community," he added.
