First Lady of the Light House Chapel International, Lady Rev. Adelaide Heward-Mills has said even though sacrifice is pivotal in the success of every marriage, some boundaries would have be exercised.
The seasoned counselor admitted that in certain situations, wisdom would have to be applied in continuing to oblige or compromise in the marriage.
“There is sacrifice but there are also boundaries,” she told Edem Knight Tay on Joy FM.
Quoting a part of the Bible in which Jesus asked a people to flee the persecution of one city a different city, in order to keep safe, the Lady Reverend advised that sometimes spouses may have to be firm about not tolerating abuse, violence or disrespect for instance.
Lady Rev. Heward-Mills was a guest on Joy FM’s Home Affairs where she joined Rev. Alan Okomeng-Mensah in answering the question of how much sacrifice should suffice in a relationship or marriage. They also answered questions on where the boundaries would have to be drawn in sacrificing within relationships.
“Before you get married you think of yourself, what you will get. When you get married, you realize that it’s about giving and giving to the other party,” she said stressing on the importance of love, long-suffering and compromise in marriage.
“Sacrifice is a central part of marriage and all other relationships”, she added.
The counselor, however, stated the importance of marrying sacrifice and responsibility.
