The event dubbed "BAL in Accra," celebrated basketball, lifestyle, and entertainment ahead of the 2025 season tip-off.
Two star-studded teams competed: Team DJ Tunez and Team Smallgod. Team Smallgod featured basketball star Angel McCoughtry alongside Ghanaian musicians Spacely, Joey B, and RJZ. While Team DJ Tunez had Angolan stars Carlos Moris and Jone Pedro featuring.
After a thrilling night of basketball action, Team Smallgod emerged victorious with a 65-60 win over Team DJ Tunez.
BAL President Amadou Gallo expressed his excitement about the event:
“Amazing display of energy and incredible performances by all players. The entertainers, including DJ Tunez, brought a unique touch. The crowd turned out in numbers, making this a special day.”
Gallo also hinted at plans to make Accra a consistent host for BAL events: “Today showed the passion for basketball and the lifestyle brand we are building for BAL.
"The presence of entertainers made it even more special. In the future, we aim to host more events here and ensure Ghana is actively represented in the Basketball Africa League.”
The 2025 BAL season is scheduled to kick off on April 5 in Morocco, with the finals set for June in South Africa.
