The prime suspect in the murder of a 25-year-old lady, in the Volta Regional capital of Ho, has been remanded into police custody by the Ho District Magistrate Court.
The Volta Regional Police PRO, Sergeant Prince Dogbatse, said Anthony Dordorye appeared before the District Magistrate Court on Wednesday, April 21, the same day the deceased was buried.
He told JoyNews' Fred Quame Asare that suspect was discharged from the hospital, where he was being treated for some injuries and was remanded into police custody for investigations to continue.
He added that Mr Dordorye has been charged with murder and is expected to go back to court on May 5.
"We have a bit of processes and procedures to go through to actually move to trial. Once we have not gotten there yet, provisionally he has been charged with murder."
Sergeant Dogbatse stated that police also performed post mortem on the body of the deceased, however, they are yet to receive the results.
Anthony Dordorye was alleged to have murdered his girlfriend, Harriet Haiti, by slitting her throat.
He was found in an unconscious state with knife wounds on his neck and stomach in the same room with the corpse of Harriet, with her head almost off her body, in the early hours of March 23.
The suspect was admitted and treated at the Ho Teaching Hospital where he spent about 28 days recuperating.
Meanwhile, hundreds of sympathisers, friends, family members, church members and residents from Ho and its environs, on April 21, thronged the community cemetery in Agortime Kpetoe to pay their last respect to the late Kafui Harriet Hiati.
Some people were in tears while others sang while the ceremony was ongoing.
