Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a murder and assault case at Gbiniyiri in the Savannah Region following an intelligence-led operation by the police.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 16, the suspects, identified as Yaw Bamuah, Yaa Bokaa and Kuma Simpor, were apprehended on March 14, 2026 by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Intelligence Team in collaboration with the Savannah Regional Police Command.
According to the police, the arrests form part of ongoing investigations into a violent attack at Gbiniyiri which resulted in a murder and injuries to other individuals.
During interrogation, one of the suspects, Yaw Bamuah, reportedly admitted involvement in the attack and provided investigators with information about several alleged accomplices who are currently on the run.
The individuals named by the suspect include Anuda Borour, PobiyÉ›, Bitunor Sansa and James Sanyuah. Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest them as investigations continue.
Preliminary findings indicate that the attack was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the killing of a relative of the suspects.

According to the police, the suspects believed their relative had been attacked and killed by robbers suspected to be Fulani.
Following his arrest, Yaw Bamuah reportedly led police officers to his residence at Gbiniyiri, where a single-barrel shotgun with serial number BAT 2598-88 was recovered from a concealed location within the compound.
Police also retrieved two live AAA cartridges during the search.
Authorities say the three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be put before a court in due course.
