The Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has sharply criticised Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, accusing him of spreading falsehoods about alleged suspicious aircraft landing at Kotoka International Airport.
In a Facebook post on Friday, April 4, Dr Boamah called on the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee to “repent”, describing his claims as baseless and politically motivated.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour had earlier demanded a security briefing regarding two aircraft—AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B—which he alleged carried cocaine and cash into the country.
His allegations triggered President John Dramani Mahama to order a probe. However, the Government Communications Minister has revealed that Mr Fordjour was invited to assist with investigations but failed to honour the invitation.
The government’s Minister of State in charge of Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, also accused Mr Fordjour of fabricating the claims for political purposes.
Mr Fordjour has since rejected the allegation, insisting no security agency has ever invited him for questioning and challenging the government to produce evidence of such an invitation.
Dr Omane Boamah, however, remained resolute, asserting that Mr Fordjour’s actions stem from “hatred for President Mahama’s administration” and a desire to curry favour within his party.
“Rev. Ntim Fordjour must desist from reckless allegations founded on untruths,” he wrote. “You know you’ve lied! You also know vivid video evidence has exposed your lies about the said aircrafts. Ntim Fordjour, repent!”
